چکیده

Webb & Parberry proved in 1969 a startling trigonometric identity involving Fibonacci numbers. This identity has remained isolated up to now, despite the amount of work on related polynomials. We provide a wide generalization of this identity together with what we believe (and hope!) to be its proper understanding.

Some Trigonometric Identities Involving Fibonacci and Lucas Numbers

In this paper, using the number of spanning trees in some classes of graphs, we prove the identities: Fn = 2n−1 n √

Toeplitz transforms of Fibonacci sequences

We introduce a matricial Toeplitz transform and prove that the Toeplitz transform of a second order recurrence sequence is another second order recurrence sequence. We investigate the injectivity of this transform and show how this distinguishes the Fibonacci sequence among other recurrence sequences. We then obtain new Fibonacci identities as an application of our transform.

Trigonometric Expressions for Fibonacci and Lucas Numbers

The amount of literature bears witness to the ubiquity of the Fibonacci numbers and the Lucas numbers. Not only these numbers are popular in expository literature because of their beautiful properties, but also the fact that they ‘occur in nature’ adds to their fascination. Our purpose is to use a certain polynomial identity to express these numbers in terms of trigonometric functions. It is in...

Fibonacci Identities and Graph Colorings

We generalize both the Fibonacci and Lucas numbers to the context of graph colorings, and prove some identities involving these numbers. As a corollary we obtain new proofs of some known identities involving Fibonacci numbers such as Fr+s+t = Fr+1Fs+1Ft+1 + FrFsFt − Fr−1Fs−1Ft−1.

Set partition statistics and q-Fibonacci numbers

We consider the set partition statistics ls and rb introduced by Wachs and White and investigate their distribution over set partitions avoiding certain patterns. In particular, we consider those set partitions avoiding the pattern 13/2, Πn(13/2), and those avoiding both 13/2 and 123, Πn(13/2, 123). We show that the distribution over Πn(13/2) enumerates certain integer partitions, and the distr...
